Paint the hearts and circles with the Copper paint. Thin the Copper paint with a little water and paint the rose petals. Final assembly Screw the base to the frame with the 1-1/4" wood screws (see Fig. 2). Apply a coat of clear satin to all pieces. Allow to dry, then glue the roses in place. Finally, glue the clock face into the frame (see Fig. 3). Sand the piece lightly and apply a second coat of clear satin. Rout a decorative profile on the sides and front edges of the base piece (B). Drift and countersink pilot holes for the 1-1/4" wood screws in the base as indicated. Assemble the side pieces (A). Fasten with glue and two panel nails at each end (see Fig. 1). Note: dull the points of the nails with a hammer before you drive them into the wood. This is an old trim carpenter's trick which helps prevent the wood from splitting. Make sure the frame is square. Glue the top and bottom molding pieces (C) into the frame, setting them 3/8" in from the front of the frame. Allow io dry, then glue the side molding pieces in place. Sand the frame assembly and the base and wipe clean with a tack cloth. Stain with Dark Walnut and allow to dry. Bum the roses Transfer the roses fo the piece of aspen (E) and cut the pieces to shape. Sand the edges smooth. With the woodburning tool and the universal tip, burn around the outline of the roses and leaves. Use the side of the tip to add the shading.
