Pattern Nomenclature

Gray Lines - Represents the complete pattern showing the sawyer all of the lines for reference (PO NOT cut these lines).

Solid and dashed lines as one path - This type of pattern line tells the sawyer that there will be another inlay piece overlaid onto this section that contains the dashed lines only. The dashed lines (also referred to as the safe area to drill at a perpendicular angle) also tell the sawyer that he can drill a pierce hole on this line because it will be covered up by another piece in the future.

5olic black line as one path - This type of line indicates that there will be no other piect overlaid onto it. The sawyer now has to place his drill bit to the inside of the pattern line and drill at an angle of apprsxlmately the same tilt as the scroll saw table so that the drill hole will not be seen, (See illustration—pierce cuts with no overlays.)
