Transfer the pattern to the Plexiglas and cover with clear packing tape. Using a No. 61 mini drill bit, bore holes for the hanger, eagle's eye and blade entry points in the waste areas. Saw with a No. 0 skip tooth blade. Make sure to run your saw at a slow speed. Make two hangers for the pendant from silver color fish hook ear wires (see Fig. 1). We hung our pendant on a silver chain threaded through the hangers. Cross necklace We made ours from 1/8" clear mirrored Plexiglas. Transfer the pattern and cut with a No. 2 skip tooth blade. Drill the hole for hanging with a No. 61 mini drill bit. Insert a silver jump ring or make a loop/ring from silver colored wire. Hang on a silver chain. Necklace with God Bless America pendant The "dove with three rayed nimbus" symbolizes the presence of God watching over our great nation as we ask for his blessings much more often during these troubled times. We made our pendant from 1/8" Baltic birch plywood. Transfer the pattern and bore blade entry holes with a No. 61 mini drill bit. Also bore holes for the hangers in the wings at the locations shown. Saw out the pendant using No. 2 and No. 0 skip tooth blades. Make two hangers for the pendant from fish hook ear wires (see Fig. 1). Note: we used brass/gold colored ear wires for this project. After sawing, carefully drill three holes in the bottom edge of the pendant at the locations shown in Fig. 3, using a No. 65 mini drill bit. Trim three brass/gold eye pins to approximately 1/2" long and insert into the holes in the bottom edge. Make three stars to hang below the pendant. We used red, clear mirrored, and blue mirrored Plexiglas. Drill a hanger hole in each star with a No. 61 mini drill bit. Using the cutoff pieces of the eye pins, bend small loops to use for hanging the stars from the eye pins. Hang the pendant on a brass/gold chain. continued on page 32 |
