CWBBW WMWBaWHM«mmBWBa«BiWIWBg by Rick Longabaugh of The Berry Basket UGB SUPPLIES Wood: red oak—one piece 1 /4" to 3/4" x 7-1 /2" x 8-3/4" (for the backer); ash—one piece 1/16" to 1 /8" x 6" x 7-1/2" (for the overlay) Tools: scroll saw with No. 2 or No. 5 blades; drill with bits; router with small roundover bit (optional) Temporary-bond spray adhesive Sandpaper, assorted grits Wood glue Stain or finish of choice Hanger of choice INSTRUCTIONS Select your material from a variety of hardwoods or solid core plywood. Cut the workpieces to sizes indicated in the supplies list. Copy the patterns and transfer to the prepared stock, attaching them with spray adhesive. Bore blade entry holes in the waste areas of the overlay pattern. Make all cuts, beginning with the inside and working toward the perimeter. Remove the patterns and thoroughly sand each piece. The outer edges of the backer can be rounded by sanding or with a router and small roundover bit if desired. Assemble by attaching the overlay to the backer with glue. Finish as desired. When dry, attach the hanger to the back of the piece. Hang and enjoy!
