For me, the most satisfying shop projects are the ones I know I'll put to use day in and day out. And if there was ever a project that fit this bill, it's the table saw workcenter you see in the photo above.

This project has a long list of features. The workcenter is designed around a standa rd contractor's saw. And it will accommodate just about any saw on the market. (Ours is a Delta, with a heavy-duty Biesemeyer

rip fence). As you can see, the table of the saw is surrounded by a huge worksurface that makes crosscut-ting or ripping workpieces (large or small) a breeze.

Off to the right, youH find a large and stable router table with all the extras — drop-in insert, miter gauge slot, and an easy-to-adjust fence. And basically, the entire lower part of the workcenter is dedicated to valuable storage.

Now you might think that a project with this many highlights would be difficult, time-consuming, and expensive to build. Not so. A combination of modular casework, simple but sturdy joinery, and inexpensive materials keeps both the work and the cost to a minimum.

And believe it or not, you can make a good thing even better by adding the outfeed stand on page 26 to the workcenter.
