Through the ages, this joint has been one of the true hallmarks of woodworking excellence. With the advent of the electric router in the 1920s, its popularity really took off. Ever since routers started showing up as a shop staple, dovetailing jigs have been making short (and very accurate) work of this joint, opening the door to woodworkers of all skill levels. To help you decide which type of jig is most suitable to the work you do, i took a look at three of the most popular small shop versions on the market.
