Quicker Way to Wax String

Just to "dovetail" on Barron, Wisconsin's Dick Ayers's neat trick with wax string in the June 2009 magazine ['Tricks of the Trade"): You don't really need to make your own wax string; it can be purchased at any store like Graybar that sells electrical and telephone supplies and, unless you're using it on a commercial scale, one roll will last you a lifetime.

I, too, mounted my plunge router and needed to come up with a lift mechanism. Then it dawned on me. I bought a car scissor jack, ground the lift plate flat and boxed it in under the router. The precision and ease of use is remarkable. Your article is still terrific, and Guido Henn should be commended for his ingenuity.
