Assembly

Remove the pattern and sand as needed. Clean up all cuts with the craft knife or a needle pick. Apply a bead of wood glue to the bottom edge of the upright where it will contact the base (see the Typical Exploded View Drawing). Fasten the upright piece where indicated on the pattern. Allow the glue to dry, then apply an oil finish or the finish of choice. Install the mini clock insert according to manufacturer's instructions. |;«

Cut the patterns

For each pattern, plane your wood to the proper thickness and cut it to the approximate size, allowing a little excess wood on the outer edges.

Copy the pattern and attach it to the wood using spray adhesive. For the uprights, lay out the patterns so that the bottom of the design is on a straight edge of the wood you have cut. This will give you a good joint with the base.

Using a very small drill bit, bore blade entry holes in the waste areas of the pattern and cut along all interior pattern lines, then complete all outside cuts.

For beveled edge bases, tilt your saw to the proper angle and cut so that your blade angles away from the line on the pattern to the bottom of the piece.
