Drill blade entry holes and make all cuts. Remove patterns and sand as needed. Decorate the wa8l hanging Drape the 30" length of leather lacing over the top of the wooden cutout, matching the centerpoint of the lace with the top center of the project. Use masking tape to hold in place. Next, place one end of each of the 48" laces at the centerpoint, one on either side of the 30" lace as shown in Fig. 1. Lift the masking tape and reposition to hold all three laces in place. Wrap the 2-1/2" x 3" piece of red felt around the centerpoint of the wooden cutout and over the laces (see Fig. 2). A small clamp can be used to temporarily hold the felt in place. Hold the 48" lace from the right side flat against the wood at a point about 3/4" from the red felt edge as shown in Fig. 2. While you are holding that section flat, use your other hand to wrap the loose end of the lace around the wood and lace. Wind the lace tightly toward the centerpoint. Take care not to wrap the lace more than approximately ten times, with the last two or three wraps laying against the red felt. When you reach the last wrap, leave the end loose enough to pull through the loop to secure. This loose end will form part of the hanger lace (see Fig. 3). Repeat this process on the left side of the red felt. Make the hanger Tie the loose ends of the leather lacing together with a square knot (see Fig, 4) approximately 18" from the end of the lace, Creative 'Woodworks & Crafts |
