Why Is Baltic birch so great? Try these attributes: Outstanding eye appeal—uniformly smooth, with light, even, appealing color. Assured, rugged performance—tough, strong, one-piece face, back and inner plies will withstand great stress and strain. No veneer joints; a perfect void-free edge all the time, no matter how it is cut. Tremendous tensile strength and screw-holding power. Fasteners can be driver close to the edge without danger of splintering. Three face grades with interchangeable backs offer wide application and price flexibility. Typical applications made from this product range to well over eighty items. Better designs begin with Baltic birch. It is the solid, all-birch plywood with the decorative edge. It embodies the three things needed most for woodworking: quality, economy, and availability. There are many good reasons why Baltic birch is being specified as the wood of choice for furniture, display fixtures, cabinets, casework, shelving, toys and dies, and a host of other products. It is especially well suited for the work of fretwork scrollers. Its uniform density throughout makes it such an ideal wood to use. Glue specifications Standard panel construction manufactured for internal usage with Type 2 Hot Press Bond. Also available is Type 1 Exterior Weatherproof, Boilproof Adhesive. Grading specifications All panels are manufactured with one-piece faces and backs and all-birch solid inner plies. Face Grade B Premium grade: patch-free clear faces, uniform white in color. One-piece face veneer. Comparable to a one-piece face A grade in domestic hardwood grading. Highest grade in Baltic birch. Face Grade BB Sound grade: small, matching color oval patches in uniform white; one-piece face veneer comparable to No. 2 grade in domestic hardwood grading. Face Grade CP Solid grade: generally no open defects. Allow for knots and BB patches. Generally used for drawer bottoms, case backs, and core stock.
