depending on the thickness, while scissors, both electric and manual, will cut about two to three layers of material at a time. Either of these methods may result in hand or wrist fatigue, and could possibly create a more serious problem, carpal tunnel syndrome. With the use of your scroll saw, you can quickly and accurately cut a hundred or more exact pieces of material at the same time. There is no strain at all and there are no additional tools to purchase.

Metal, plastic, leather, paper, and rubber are just a few of the many other items that can easily and successfully be cut on the scroll saw.

Experience Is the Best Teacher

Recently, 1 had the opportunity to chat with Dave Freeman who has spent the last eleven years traveling the country while working for a major scroll saw company. Over the years. Dave has acquired a wealth of information on just what a scroll saw can cut, and he has assembled this volume of knowledge into a book. After reviewing (he contents, and even trying many of the ideas myself, 1 believe that this is a must-have book for scroll sawyers everywhere. 1 he information contained within its pages needs to be available to all, and therefore, T have decided to publish this book.

Final Thoughts

Dave Freeman's book is a keeper, and you will want to have it on your shelf in a handy spot to refer to over and over. This reference book is not only about how many things can be cut on a scroll saw, but also about how to have fun scroll sawing the items in the book. Every chapter contains pertinent information regarding each material covered, complete with

blade sizes and cutting speeds. Dave also includes practical applications for the items lie covers in his book that have real world uses and, in many cases, can save you considerable time and money.

And to think, there was a time when 1 thought the scroll saw was for culling only wood! I believe in this book as a way to increase the fun and enjoyment of your scroll saw. Let the new adventures begin!
