Using spray adhesive, apply the pattern for the fish hook to the piece of cherry or walnut, then cover ttie L pattern area with clear packaging lape. The tape lubricctes the scroll saw blade fo prevent burning. Cut out the fish hook. Step 2. Using spray adhesive, apply the pattern for the brown trout to the piece of hard maple, (Use tine bounding box provided with the pattern as a reference for sizing your wood selection. This rectangular perimeter will help you attach your backerboard later.) Cover the pattern area with clear packaging tape. Drill all fretworfc holes. Then scroll the more difficult areas first, usually the face of the fish ard its body fins. Start af these points and work j your way outward toward the dashed lines. DO NOT CUT ON THF DASHED LINK. The dashed lines will be cut out cn ! the next step. Step 3. Place the piece of Bailie birch fcr the backer board behind the maple trout piece and align the edges. Use masking tape to hold bolh pieces of wood firmly together. Cut along the dashed lines until the ... pattern is completely cut out. Separate both pieces. Sand ttie backer board using 150-grit saridpcper, then spray point it dartc blue or your color of choice. I.et dry. Step 4. Apply your favorite finish fo the hook end fish pieces and let ■ dry. Set the backer board into the hook area flush with the back of the hook. Apply a few drops of while glue to the creas where the hook and backer board touch. Apply some white glue to Ihe backside of the fish where it will come in contact with the : backer board, then attach the fish to the backer board.
