We show ourselves working on projects using the latest and greatest tools, and it's easy to start thinking you really need this stuff to do good work. Don't get me wrong, it's a lot of fun to use a $600 ultra-precise plunge router to cut mortises and it's very cool to take a shaving you can see through with a high-end handplane.
