"revolving" center? That still leaves some confusion, though, because the headstock center also revolves, driven by the pulleys, driven by the motor, put into action by electricity. I'd guess if I were only using Tom's logic, then the headstock center isn't actually live, either, as it's being driven by something other than itself.

Plywood the Right Way

When Chris Marshall responded that it shouldn't really matter which way plywood is oriented [Questions & Answers, April 2008), he was wrong, very wrong. Plywood is most resistant to bending in the direction of the long grain. Per the engineering guidelines published by the American Plywood Association (APA), it makes a great deal of difference.

A shelf with the grain orientation of the face veneer crosswise to the length is going to sag considerably more than the same dimension of shelf with the grain orientated longitudinally.
