the sides of the tray. Hold the spreader so that the teeth are at a 45 degree angle against the tile back. Run the teeth along the tile in many different directions. This process should take off any excess adhesive (it should be no more than about 1/8" high). Next, run your finger along the edges of the tile to remove about 3/4" of the adhesive. This will help to prevent adhesive from seeping out the sides and rising between the tiles.

Press the tile in place, making sure both edges of the corner are against the adjacent wood sides. If any adhesive seeps out from under the tile, wipe it up now.

Repeat this procedure with the remaining tiles. If, during this process, any adhesive gets onto the surface of the tile or the sides of the tray, wipe it off immediately with a damp towel. Allow to dry overnight.

Grout the tray

Mix the grout with water until it reaches the consistency of whipped cream. Note: DO NOT get any grout on or near the carved design. Only grout the interior seams; the outer edges of the tile should be flush to the sides of the tray. Press grout into all interior seams, making sure to fill as much of the seam as possible. Smooth down the grout line with your finger; it should be slightly recessed. Wipe any grout from the tile surface with a damp towel and allow to dry.

Apply grout sealer according to manufacturer's instructions. Your ceramic tray is now ready to serve! jfi
