SUPPLIES Wood: pine—one piece 3/4" x 4"x 19" Tools: table saw; band saw or scroll saw; electric drill with bits; 1" chisel; metal straightedge; sharp knife; rawhide mallet; electric sander Seven wooden dowels, 7/16"- Dia. x 2" Sandpaper, assorted grits Wood glue Minwax Winter White stain Tints-All paint tint: Venetian Red (for rose), Dark Green (for turquoise), Tangerine Orange (for peach) Cotton rag Clear polyurethane Steel wool, No. 0000 Hardware for hanging INSTRUCTIONS Make the pegboard Cut the wood to specified dimensions, then lay out the pedboard as indicated on the pattern. Using a band saw or scroll saw, cut the board to shape, then chamfer the edges with a chisel. Cut two decorative grooves using a table saw or router set to 1/8" deep. Lay out the seven drill centers where shown in the pattern, then bore 7/16"-Dia. x 1/4" deep holes at an approximate 45 degree angle at each drill center location. Round off the top edge of each dowel with a sharp knife. Sand the board and dowels until smooth with medium and fine grit sandpaper. Insert a few drops of wood glue into each hole, then tap in the dowels and allow to dry. 10 Finish The three stains shown in the color photo are all made from a base of Minwax Winter White stain and a small amount of Tints-All paint tint. The stains are made as follows: Rose: mix White and Venetian Red Turquoise: mix White and Dark Green Peach: mix White and Tangerine Orange Apply the stain using a brush, then wipe off excess with a cotton rag and allow to dry. Apply two coats of clear polyurethane and allow to dry. Buff smooth using No. 0000 steel wool. If you desire a "natural" finish, apply two coats of clear polyurethane only, omitting the staining process.
