Assembly Drawing

INSTRUCTIONS

Since birds identify their j own kind from a distance by i outline, thrifty hunters have sometimes used cutout sil-houettes in place of more costly carved decoys. The "Poor Man's Decoy" presented here represents a | Canadian goose.

Cut the wood Cut the base to specified dimensions and round over the edges using sandpaper.

Transfer the basic pattern for the upright and cut around the perimeter with the scroll saw. Sand all surfaces until smooth, then remove all dust.

Finish and assemble Transfer the interior pattern lines to the cutout and paint the goose as indicated on the pattern. Let dry, then sand the cutout lightly on the edges and in a few other random areas to expose some raw wood, giving the decoy a distressed appearance.

Brush a coat of Minwax Jacobean stain on the base and also over the painted goose. Wipe off excess stain and allow to dry.

Center the goose on the base as shown in the assembly drawing. Fasten with glue and 3" drywall screws driven up from the underside, iri
