SUPPLIES

Wood: wood of choice—

one piece 1/2" x 8" x 14" Tools: scroll saw with No. 5

blades; drill with bits Temporary-bond spray

adhesive Sandpaper, assorted grits

(including 150 grit) Four 3/4" finishing nails Wood glue

INSTRUCTIONS

Attach the pattern to the wood using spray adhesive. Saw the border, then drill blade holes for the heart and flame.

Make the interior detail then tilt the saw 5 degrees the left and begin cutting heart from the left side shown on the pattern. Next, the flame from the right side shown.

Finish all cuts, then sand edges until smooth. Stain top, bottom, inside of the heart, and outer layer of the heart with medium stain. All other parts should be stained light.

Attach the upright to the base with wood glue and finishing nails.

Assemble the heart and the flame, glue the front onto the back, and allow to dry. Once dry, apply clear gloss.
