Finishing

When the paint is dry, spray the parts of the puppy and top of the hat with several light coats of Delta Matte Spray Varnish. Brush Delta satin varnish on the baton, and Gloss Varnish on the visor, hat band, nose and tongue.

Gluing

Clamp a straight edge to a flat surface. Lay down a sheet of wax paper and edge glue the pieces together starting at the bottom with the pieces aligned against the

and a cone tip to make the whiskers, as shown in Fig. 17. If you don't have a woodbur ning pen, cut the toes with a V-cut and make the whiskers with an awl.

Painting

Note: before painting this project, edge glue the side of the hat to the top and the hat band to the visor as shown in Fig. 18. I found out the hard way that these pieces can have a tendency to warp in several directions if they're painted first!

Brush two or three coats of Delta All-Purpose Sealer on the hat, visor, and baton. When dry, sand lightly with 400 grit abrasive. Apply the paint right from the bottle on these pieces, as well as on the nose and tongue.
