by Darrin Baldini SUPPLIES Wood: pine or wood of choice—one piece 1" x 6" x 25" Tools: scroll saw with assorted blades; drill press with small bit and drum sander attachment Temporary-bond, spray adhesive Sandpaper, 100 and 220 grit Minwax Accent Stain in Antique Red, Dark Walnut, Harvest Gold, Hunter Green, Ipswich Pine, Midnight Blue, and Olive Green Minwax Fast Drying Polyurethane (clear) Two 12"-long pieces of leather lacing* Wooden beads *(colors and sizes of choice) Four feathers '(colors and sizes of choice) Two heavy-duty eyelet hangers "Available from any craft store. INSTRUCTIONS Transfer the pattern to the selected stock, bore blade entry holes in the waste areas, and saw to shape. Make all interior, cuts first, then saw around the perimeter. Use a drum sander to contour the paddle. Referring to the photograph, color and stain the paddle. This project; can be left natural as well. When dry, apply clear polyurethane.
