Introduction

I am on a kind of functional kick with my project designs lately. If you sell the items you make, you will find that people like things they can use. From coin banks to clocks, you should be able to find a use for my designs.

I managed to design this so that the horseshoe is pointing in the right direction this time. On one of my patterns, called "Lucky Rose," I have the horseshoe facing down. A lady at one of the scroll saw picnics I attended pointed out that that was wrong; all the good luck will run out of a horseshoe facing down. I finally figured out what I had done wrong. I had the horse upside down when I was sketching its shoe. With the horse right side up and a lot happier (please, no letters from animal rights folks here), I will be able to correct the pattern and make a "Luckier Rose" which I plan to offer in a future issue of Creative Woodworks & Crafts.

Lucky the Horse Clock is a fairly basic intarsia project. If you have been reading Bob Hlavacek's articles as well as mine, you probably already know as much about intarsia as I do. So, I don't think I need to explain how it's done. But just in case there are a few people who may have missed our articles, I will run through the basic steps.
