Another Helpful Hint Use a disc sander to smooth the edges of the base, being careful to keep the piece turning to avoid creating flat spots. Step 6. Glue the top of the clock into the holes in the base. Step 7. Finish your clock by aoplying a wood sealer, allowing it to dry thoroughly. Sand smooth with 2 2 0 - g r i t sandpaper and apply several coats of a clear finish. Sand between coats with fine sandpaper or steel wool.
