receive in your kil may vary slightly from the dimensions shown in the Peg Detail.

The Hood: The hood is actually a separate subassembly consisting of three parts—the 7s in. thick hood <C). the I in. thick lower hood (D). and the s/i6 in. thick grill (E>. Start with the lower hood. Use the table saw to col the series of louver kerfs, ihen use the band saw to make the I in. radius cutout. Lastly, clip off the corners as shown.

Next, cut ihe hood and grill lo size, and glue all ihree pans together. When ihe glue has dried, firsi sand to flush ihe sides, then use the table saw. with ihe blade angled over 35 degrees from vertical, to cut the 55-degree angles on the hood subassembly (see Fig. I). It's important lhat you sand the hood subassembly flush on the sides, or you won't have a flat surface on which to gauge off of for the Fig. 1 cuts.

The Seat: The seat subassembly consists of the seat sides lF>. ihe seal back (Gl and the seal bottom {H>. The sides and back are 5/"> in. thick. Refer to the full-size pattern for ihe side profile, and for a cross section of ihe seat bollom. then cut lite parts to si/e and glue them together.

The Trunk: The trunk consists ol just two parts, the trunk (J) and the trunk cap (K). Cut and glue the two parts, then gently radius the edges.

Remaining Parts

Now cut the remaining parts, including the block (li. tool boxes (L). fenders (M), bumpers (N). tank lO). steering column iPi and gear shift (Ql. For the fender, first use our full-size pattern to transfer the fender profile to the xh in. thick fender stock, then cut the fender shape with the band saw or scroll saw. and sand smooth. One trick to getting both lenders lo the same shape is to use doublestick tape to hold both fenders together as you cut them oul.

Before you do the final assembly, sand the parts as show n in ihe photo lo soften sharp edges, chamfer the bumper edges, and clean up any glue squeeze-out on (lie various subassemblies.

Final Assembly

Locate and glue the hood, seat and trunk subassemblies to the chassis, and add the block, tank, bumpers, and large wheels.
