Several suppliers offer this heavy-duty standard and bracket system for storing lumber. The galvanized brackets are fully adjustable and virtually indestructible. they definitely need to be strong. For a Herculean grade lumber rack (actually the same one we featured on the "Rolling Lumber Cart* project in the December 2003 issue), I really like the 3/16" thick galvanized steel system sold by Lee Valley Tools and Hartville Tool. The rack configures just like ordinary household shelf standards and brackets, only these babies are indestructible. The shelf brackets come in 10", 14" or 18" lengths — perfect for even the widest lumber — and they're rated to hold up to 300 pounds at the tip.
