together, then attach the bottom. Nail the lower roof pieces into place.

Fasten the narrow upper roof. Using a block plane, slightly bevel the upper edge so that it continues the roof line. This way, the wide upper | roof piece will fit flush against it. Attach the wide upper roof piece and round over the roof crest with a file or rasp.

Apply wood glue to one end of the dowel and insert it into the lower hole on the front piece to create the perch. 1/4„ f

Painting Perch

Transfer the patterns for the windows, door, and step to the wood and cut out. Using wood glue and No. 2d galvanized nails, glue and nail these pieces into the locations indicated in the Plan View Drawing. Hint: drill a pilot hole into each component prior to nailing.

Basecoat the entire birdhouse with Light Ivory and allow to dry. Paint the bottom piece with Kelly Green. Paint the steps with Drizzle Grey f and the door with Napthol Crimson. The edges of the roof are Straw. : Referring to the window pattern, paint the stained glass windows in colors of choice and outline each

Finish

Using the staple gun, attach the shingles to the Narrow upper roof piece (E)

roof. Beginning at the bottom edge of the roof and working toward the top, staple each successive

row of shingles so that they overlap the Lower root piece
