SUPPLIES

Wood: hardwood of choice—one piece 3/4" x 4-3/8" x 7-1/2" (for the King of the Beasts upright), one piece 3/4" x 2-3/4" x 9" (for the King of the Beasts base), one piece 1/2" x 4-1/2" x 6-1/2" (for the Miniature Guitar upright) one piece 1/2" x 4-1/2" x 4-1/2" (for the Miniature Guitar base) Tools: scroll saw with assorted blades; drill with assorted bits (including a 1-3/8"-Dia. Forstner bit); table saw (or similar saw for cutting straight lines); belt sander (optional) Temporary-bond spray adhesive Sharp knife

Sandpaper, assorted grits

Wood glue

Deft Danish oil finish

II Make the clocks

|| Transfer the patterns to the wood and cut to shape with a II scroll saw. Continuing to refer to the patterns, lay out and cut || the bases.

Using a 1-3/8"-Dia. Forstner bit, bore the holes for the clock || inserts at the locations indicated. Drill and countersink pilot H holes in the bases (for the screws which will attach the H uprights) at the locations shown on the base patterns.

Attach the uprights to the bases with glue and the appropri-§§ ate size wood screws. Insert the mini clock movements into | the 1-3/8"-Dia. holes as shown in the Typical Exploded View Drawing. L-i
