Fig. 1 - Draw a circle to indicate the outside of the flower.

Fig. 3 - Draw a center circle in the flower and make a stop cut around it.

Fig. 2 - Make a stop cut around the flower and lower the leaves 3/4" down into the wood.

Fig. 4 - Remove a small cove around the center circle.

Fig. 5 - Carve the back edges of the petals.

Fig. 6 - Remove wood from the backs of the petals to begin shaping.

Fig. 9 - Round the center bud of the flower.

Fig. 7 - Make separations between the petals.

Fig. & - Round the tops of the petals using the No. 3-6mm gouge upside down.

Fig. 12 - Make convex shapes in the sides of the leaves using the No. 5-12mm gouge upside down.

- Carve the center into four segments, then make concave cuts in the petals to round them over and to create the outside shape.
