Step 3. If you choose to rout out the back of your piece, you will need to attach an extension to your router base. We used a piece of scrap pine about 24" long, with a hole drilled in '.he center for the bit and two holes for mounting screws. We routed the back 1/2" deep. That way we had enough room for the glass, an acrylic protector, and the fasteners. Use any flat bottom straight bit that you have, just make severaf incrementally deeper passes until'you get to the final depth.

Step 4. Apply your pattern with spray adhesive, and bore blade entry holes in the waste areas, Use a 1/16"-Dia. (.0625" or 1.5875 mtp) bit for the larger holes and a No. 58 (.042" o- 1.0668 mm) bit for the smaller ones.

Stejj 5. We used Olson No. 2R blades for cutting the design in the denser wood and Olson No. 0 for more Control where the wood was softer. We also found that it was necessary to slow: our blade speed a bit so as not to overcut on turns.
