The Scouts organization teaches responsibility, loyalty, self reliance, and teamwork while preparing the kids to meet and overcome challenges. Skills are learned in every aspect you can think of. There are six ranks attainable: Tenderfoot, Second class, First class, Star, Life, and Eagle. Each level brings more opportunity and responsibility. Less than 2% of all Scouts will achieve the level of Eagle. Eagle Scouts are found in all walks of life. Here is a very short list of some: Willie Banks, former Olympic world record holder in triple jump and long jump; William C. DeVries, who transplanted the first artificial heart; Gerald Ford, the 38th President of the United States; John Koucak, NBA center for the Orlando Magic; and Thomas Foley, former speaker of the house.
