Popular Woodworking 2009-08 № 177, страница 10Tricks of the Trade EDITED BY PAUL ANTHONY THE WINNER: Sled Runner Restraints 1 recently made a crosscut sled formy table saw. Thesawtable has typical inverted T-slots, so I decided to add fender washers to the leading endsof the sled runners. Acting like the washer on the end of many a miter gauge bar, the washers on the sled runners prevent the sled from tipping when cantilevered off the front of the saw. I find thai #10 fender washers work great forthejob, being 1" in diameterwith a 'A"-diameterhole. They fit well in the wide section of the table slot and accept the head of a#10 flat he ad screw nicely. Depending on the thickness olyour sled runners, you'll probably need to counterbore a shallow recess to accept each washer. 1 used a 1 '/(t" Forstnerbit todothejob, drillingjust deeply enough to align the washerwiththe wide section of theslot. Formaximum strength, attach each washer with as longa screw as possible. — Rich Flynn, Huntington Beach, California
