Woodworker

In reviewing your plans lor the Cherry Hnd Table project in the January/ February 1993 issue. 1 noticed that the dimension for the bottom end of the legs is not specified. Can you help me out?

Mel R. Bird. Huron, Ohio

The legs taper to a 1 in. square at the bottom end.

I seldom voice an opinion on a magazine article, but I was appalled to find five pages of prime space in your March/April 1993 issue devoted to the article •'Troubleshooting b'lectric Motors." That kind of piece I would expect to find in a home improvement magazine. Please devote future issues to the purpose staled in the title of your publication, and leave the other, less important, writing chores to those not equipped to offer good woodworking advice and project plans.

Odds and Ends

The article "Choosing A Good Brush" in our March/April 1993 issue listed Wood Finishing Supply Co. of Palmyra, New York, as a source for natural bristle brushes. However, we have recently learned that Wood Finishing Supply has been purchased by the company Woodworker's Supply, 5604 Alameda Place NF. Albuquerque. NM 87113-2100; tel. 1-800-645-9292. Woodworker's Supply will continue to carry the brushes.

In the Kitchen Message Center project (our January/February 1993 issue), the side is incorrectly labeled as part E in Fig. 5. It should be labeled as part F.

Your safety is important to

US... We strive to present our plans and techniques as accurately and safely as possible, and we try to point out specific areas and procedures where extra caution is required. But because of the variability of local conditions, construction materials and personal skills, we can'i warn you against all potential hazards. Remember to exercise common sense and use safety measures when operating woodworking power equipment. Don'l attempt any procedures you're not comfortable with or properly equipped for. Sometimes, for the sake of clarity, it's necessary for a photo or illustration to show power tools without the blade guard in place. In actual operation, though, you should always use blade guards and other safety devices on power tools thai are equipped with them. Remember... an ounce of prevention really it, worth a pound of cure.
