Woodworker's Journal 1994-18-3, страница 47ping 3/4 in. thick stock lo the widths shown in the Bill Of Materials-21/4 in. for the four end stiles (A), and 21/: in. for ihe two center Miles (B I and the four rails (C). Using the router table equipped with a guide fence and a '/4 in. diameter straight bit. cut the l/4 in. wide by '/2 in deep grooves in the stiles and rails. To avoid burning the wood, it's best to make the cuts in lour passes, with each pass removing about '/s in. of material. Next, cut ihe end stile, center stile and rail parts to the lengths shown in the Bill Of Materials. To help insure that cach of the various parts will measure exactly ihe same length, it's a good idea to add an auxiliary fence to your table saw miter gauge, then clamp a stopblock to ihe auxiliary fence establishing the cor rect distance from ihe saw blade. Set up the table saw with a dado head and. using the miter gauge, cut the 'A in. w ide by 7/ift in. long tenons on each end of the center stiles and the rails. Check them for a good fit in the grooves cut earlier. (Culling the tenons '/i6 in. shorter than the 1 /2 in. deep grooves insures that the shoulder w ill snug up light at assembly.) May/June 1994 47 |
