Small Adjustments

You Missed One

Your review of small drivers in the April 2009 issue ("Small Drivers, Big Impact"] missed one surprisingly capable tool. The Dremel Driver is incredibly torquey for its size and price. I've driven small-to-medium drywall screws directly into fir, and 1/2" truss screws into ash without pre-drilling. And it's considerably smaller than the ones you reviewed. I often slip it into my jacket pocket to take it up a ladder. The lithium-ion battery seems to last forever. The only feature it lacks is the impact feature, but I haven't missed that yet.

WJ Responds: The review you referenced was about "Small Impact Drivers," but we sure appreciate your review of the Dremel Driver and encourage readers to send in similar accounts of their favorite tools.

Several Coats of Clear...

"Sweet as Sugar" article, April 2009 issue [on the topic of sugar maple]: When you say you "follow with several coats of clear," what do you use for "clear"? Thanks for a great magazine.

Steve Stever Ims Gatos, California

A Comfortable Place to Find Knowledge

I just wanted to thank you all for a great magazine. I have been around woodworking for a good while, and I have always found useful tidbits or a new way to approach a task from reading your magazine. My grandfather was an industrial arts teacher and I loved trying to soak up as much of his knowledge as possible. Your magazine has once again given me a comfortable place to find [woodworking] knowledge and take on new tasks.

Fence Adjustments

I chose to use poplar for the "Wide Body Router Table Fence" [December 2008] as I had some in my shop. I built the fence using your dimensions but chose to attach the fence to the table saw fence.

A pancake compressor is sufficient to power a touch-up spray gun.
