Now take the three pieces of 12" long lacing and tie them to the outer ring at the positions shown on the Fig. 1 with two overhand knots. Working with one lace at a time, string on the bead combinations as shown on the Fig. 1. Stack a red fluffy plume and then a black hackle on top of the shaft of one simulated eagle feather, then lay the shafts on top of the leather lace. Wrap a piece of red felt around the feather shafts and lace. While holding this assembly together, wrap a 12" long piece of artificial sinew around the felt as shown on the Fig. 1 to hold all of the components together. The sinew is tacky and will stick to itself, however you can tuck the loose ends under if desired. Note: the back side of the simulated eagle feathers can be trimmed as shown in Fig. 1. This will create a channel to lay the leather lace into, making the felt assembly easier to handle. Once you have the three bottom laces finished, adjust the placement of the knots and bead combinations on the hanger lace so that the silhouette hangs straight. Decorate the Millennium Beaver Begin with two pieces of red felt. Mark four points approximately 2-3/4" apart down the middle of each piece, then fold each piece in half lengthwise at the four marks. Cut a slit about 1/8" long into the fold. This will result in four 1/4" slots down the center of the felt when it is unfolded. Make the right and left bend felt assemblies Turn over the felt pieces so that any marks you made will be on the back. Insert the shafts of the four right bend simulated eagle feathers into the slots of one piece of felt with the tips pointed down, then insert the four left bend simulated eagle feathers into the slots of the second piece of felt. String the bead combinations shown on the Fig. 1 onto the leather lacing (hanger lace) and tie to the silhouette with two overhand knots. Note: make the knots loose enough to be adjusted later. Fold the top right-hand corner of the left bend felt assembly to the back. Wrap the top of this piece around the shaft of the uppermost simulated eagle feather. Tuck the folded area under the hanger lace knot on the left side of the silhouette. Tighten this knot to hold the left bend felt assembly in place. Repeat this process with the right bend felt assembly, only this time folding the top left-hand corner to the back. Adjust the felt assemblies so that the front of the feathers are all facing forward and the feather shafts are all turned to the back. Note: it may be necessary to hot glue the feather shafts to the back of the felt. Add a white fluffy plume to each side by slipping the shafts under the hanger knots. Fig. 1. Decorate the Sky Spirit.
