An intarsia innovation

It's always nice to look at intarsia projects, but I've never seen a functional one. The wood duck lamp takes intarsia a step further. By adding a base and wiring it, I created a lamp. For about three dollars more you can add a neat motion activated sound j box and hear a frog croak when the lamp is turned on or off. /

Preparation /

Place clear packing tape on the wood, then glue the pat- p terns in place with spray adhesive. Be sure to have the / 4 straight cut edges on the bottom of the duck, cattail ,/ leaves, and cattail seed pods (see Fig. 1). Bore a 21/64''- / Dia. hole approximately 3/32" deep for the 8mm glass / t eye (see Fig. 2) Since glass eyes can vary, slightly in / jt thickness, test drill in. scrap wood for exact depth. ft ^p

Cut the seed pods square <?f both ends. Bote j , 3/16'-Dia. holes about 1/2" deep in the center of each / end (see Fig. 3). h ''
