INSTRUCTIONS

Make the flower girl's basket

Copy the pattern and adhere to the wood with spray adhesive. Using the scroll saw, cut around the perimeter of the pattern, but not the foot pivot at this time. Referring to the pattern, bore and countersink 1/8"-Dia. pilot holes 5/8" deep where indicated for the pivot screws and the foot. With the 1/8"-Dia. bit, bore blade entry holes in the waste areas as well as at each end of the basket spiral.

Tilt your saw table four degrees to the left and, using a No. 9 blade, cut around the spiral of the basket. Start sawing in the center and cut clockwise until you reach the end of the spiral.

Level the table and make the interior cuts, including the circle around the spiral (indicated by the dashed line on the pattern). Smooth all of the sawn edges with sandpaper. Round over the outside edges of the basket with a router and roundover bit.

Attach the basket and foot to the outer frame with No. 6 x 5/8" wood screws and apply a clear penetrating oil to the entire basket.

Make the ring bearer's pillow

Copy the pattern and adhere to the wood with spray adhesive. Bore blade entry holes in the waste areas. Saw the piece to shape, starting with the interior cuts and finishing with the perimeter. Save the heart cutout from the center. Sand as necessary and apply a clear penetrating oil.

Pad the heart cutout with foam rubber and cover it with fabric. Glue the fabric to the sides of the heart and insert it back into the cutout. Finally, sew ribbon to the pillow.

Make the bouquet stand

Copy the pattern and adhere to the wood with spray adhesive. Counterbore a 3/8" deep hole for the dowel with the 1-3/8"-Dia. Forstner bit (see Fig. 1). Bore a 1/8':-Dia. hole in the center of the 1-3/8"-Dia. hole and countersink it from the bottom. With the scroll saw, cut out the pattern, starting with the interior cuts and finishing with the perimeter. Sand as necessary.

Carefully bore a 3/4"-Dia. hole 2" deep in the top end of the dowel. Insert the dowel into the 1-3/8"-Dia. hole and screw it from the bottom with a No. 6 x 5/8" wood screw. Apply a clear oil finish and enjoy. «

Fig 1. Note the 1-3/6" dia. x 3/6" deep hole in the center of the base.
