Wait five to ten seconds for the glue to become sticky like tape (too sticky and the pattern will be hard to remove after cutting; not sticky enough and the pattern might start to come off during cutting). Drill or saw the insert hole prior to any other cutting. Note: 2" inserts vary in mounting diameter; therefore, check your insert before drilling. The opening on the pattern measures 1-7/8" in diameter; however, you may need to adjust this to fit your chosen insert. Bore 1/16"-Dia. blade entry holes (or smaller on some cutouts) in all areas to be cut out. Make all internal cuts before making the outside cut, as this will give you a much more stable piece of wood with which to work. Remove the patterns and gently sand the pieces using fine to extra fine grit sandpaper. The reverse tooth or crown tooth blades should have reduced the amount of sanding needed in the cutouts. The edges of the base can be shaped to give added appeal. Glue the eagle head to the base. Finish the project with clear polyurethane. Install your chosen insert and enjoy!Jj^ SUPPLIES Wood: tight-grained hardwood of choice—one piece 1/2" x 8-3/4" x 9-1/4" (for the upright), one piece 1 /2" x 2-1/4" x 10-3/4" (for the base) Tools: scroll saw with Nos. 5 and 7 reverse tooth or crown tooth blades; drill with small bits and appropriate sized Forstner bit for insert hole (optional) Temporary-bond spray adhesive (3M #77) Sandpaper, in fine to extra fine grits Wood glue Clear polyurethane 2"-Dia. clock or photo frame insert INSTRUCTIONS Affix the pattern pieces to the selected stock with spray adhesive.
