edge of the pull). Rip the strip in two 1 in. from the outside edge, then cut off the individual pull blanks 2 in. long, starting V* in. from a hole (Fig. 7).

Sand thoroughly and round off all sharp edges except those in contact with the door. Pre-drill the door and pull and fasten with glue and screws.

The finishing method 1 prefer is easy to do and results in an exceptionally smooth surface. After sanding,apply a liberal coat of a good penetrating oil finish such as Watco Danish Oil, then, while the surface is still wet, sand with 320 grit wet or dry sandpaper. As you sand, the oil traps the sanding dust and forces it into the pores of the wood. After sanding, wipe all surfaces dry with a soft rag and let the doors dry overnight. The resulting finish will be satin smooth.

Additional coats of oil will increase the sheen. The final touch is a light coat of Butcher's Wax buffed with a soft cloth or lambswool pad.
