5 Using your parting tool once more, estahlish the 1-V4 in. diameter at the shoulder where the spindle section ends. 6 Remount the blank, using ihe offset center points. Move (he tool rest well out of ihe way, turn on the lathe, and check that the leg blank is in no danger of coming loose. 8 As shown in the pattern, ihe leg w ill taper from ihe I-V4 in. diameter at the top of the spindle section lo about 7/n in. diameter at the bottom end where it terminates, just above the foot. 9 Using gouges, carefully fair in die top of the foot where it meets the spindle section of ihe turning. Stop ihe lathe, then use a sharp chisel to genily round the back of ihe leg where it meets the foot.
