Tip each of the feathers with mahogany. I found it was easiest to glue each tip into place as I cut it. First, make sure there is a good fit. Then, attach the mahogany tip using wood glue, and add a small drop of super glue to serve as a "clamp" until the wood glue has dried.

Place the entire piece on l/4"-thick plywood and trace the outer edge. Cut along the traced line at a 45° angle, and glue the plywood info place.

Trace and cut out the oak for fhe base. Cut out the footprints and fit with yellow heart. For the shell holes, use a 3/4" forstner bit to drill I /2" deep into the oak base where indicated on the pattern. Sand the oak base and lightly round the edges. Glue the tail feathers and body to the oak base.

Cut the USED shotgun shells at 1-1/2" from the brass end. Lightly sand the cut end to fit the hole. Insert fhe shells into the holes, using a small amount of glue fo secure. Glue fhe combination head, throat, and neck piece into piace. Let dry.

Apply a clear coat of your finish of choice. Glue the glass eye info place. Let dry, then apply a hanger fo the back. Hang and enjoy your turkey beard holder (and good luck filling it up!).
